The Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation Section (D&ERS) assists Member States with building their capacity to decommission any nuclear related facilities and environmental remediation of any sites contaminated with radioactive material, including NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material). It cooperates with other sections and especially with the two teams in WTS in charge of radioactive waste management (pre-disposal and disposal). Efforts are focused mainly on the elaboration and implementation of comprehensive and integrated decommissioning and environmental remediation policies and strategies, the development of supporting infrastructure, the promotion of good practices for sustainable, safe and cost-effective project planning, implementation and completion; enabling access to current scientific and technological developments, along with the provision of direct assistance through the technical cooperation programme.
Responsibilities
- Support DERS initiatives funded through the Japanese Extra Budget, ensuring their effective implementation and alignment with DERS goals and objectives.
- Manage and maintain e-tools to ensure seamless access to DERS reports and information within the section and for Member States, providing accurate and up-to-date content.
- Create and monitor social media posts to effectively disseminate information, promote IAEA’s work outcomes, and enhance engagement with resources.
- Support the team in conducting outreach via social media platforms to enhance engagement, promote DERS activities and outcomes, and foster effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Coordinate logistical arrangements, prepare materials, and provide on-site support during events to ensure smooth execution.
- Facilitate communication and follow-up with event participants to maintain engagement and address their needs.
- Monitor and ensure project alignment with established objectives, contributing to the success of initiatives.
- Ensure all project activities comply with IAEA standards, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
- Completed Secondary Education.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an international environment in project support and office administration.
- Experience in creating and managing social media content, particularly on platforms such as LinkedIn, to effectively disseminate relevant information, engage with a wide audience, and monitor online responses for impact and outreach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related tools, and SharePoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset.
- Administrative skills test to IAEA standard may be part of the process.
