JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

IOM, UN Migration Agency in Geneva, Switzerland is looking for a Multimedia Production Officer will be responsible and accountable for the management and technical oversight of Video, Photo and Audio within the Department of Media and Communications (MCD) and across IOM.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and oversee MCD’s audio-visual team’s workflows and audio, video, podcast, animation, and photo outputs.
  2. Coordinate and oversee MCD’s audio-visual multimedia studio.
  3. Provide technical oversight and feedback for global audio-visual products before dissemination from HQ and the field.
  4. Provide technical advice on best practises and coordinate technical input for video, and audio strategies into global communications plans.
  5. Provide video, audio and editing trainings to staff in the Regional and Country Offices worldwide to improve their video, video editing and audio outputs. In close collaboration with MCD photographer, deliver similar training on photography outputs.
  6. Provide audio-visual studio set-up and management training to  staff in  the Regional and Country Offices worldwide where appropriate.
  7. Capture and edit IOM activities and live events for institutional, Executive Office as well as public facing promotional content in video, audio and photo format.
  8. Capture high quality video, audio and photo format content in HQ and the field for Global Communications priorities, including podcast format.
  9. In  collaboration with MCD units, oversee, capture and produce high quality video, audio and photo format content in HQ and the field for various IOM Departments’ Communications priorities.
  10. Propose, prepare and/or review short scripts and storylines for audiovisual content to be disseminated on the IOM Global website and social media channels.
  11. Develop and maintain user-friendly guidelines for the collection and post-production of video, audio, and photo content by IOM staff worldwide, such as informed consent and date protection, copyright and technical production guidance.
  12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Media or Communications, Photography or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • University degree in the above fields with seven  years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Experience in capturing video, photo and audio content in a studio setting;
  • Experience in capturing video, photo and audio content at live events and live video streaming;
  • Experience in capturing video, photo and audio content in on assignment/ in field operations;
  • Experience in sound design, mixing and SFX editing;
  • Experience in editing and producing video and photo content;
  • Experience in script writing;
  • Experience in content production planning and strategic planning;
  • Experience in guiding and advising staff on audio visual content production to improve skills;
  • Experience working within UN settings;
  • Experience in managing teams; and,
  • Experience in managing service providers and freelancers.

Skills

  • Expertise in photographic recording, including both camera operation and operating strobe lighting;
  • Expertise in Photo editing software, such as Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop or Capture One;
  • Expertise in Video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Da Vinci Resolve;
  • Expertise in audio production workflows for live recording, using professional grade audio production equipment;
  • Expertise in live sound mixing and post-production audio editing ;
  • Expertise in motion graphics, motion design, animation and other moving image techniques;
  • Excellent oral and visual communication skills, with an ability to produce photo captions accurately;
  • Proven ability to plan workflows and manage team members;
  • Proven ability to produce work precisely and concisely according to the set deadlines;
  • Knowledge of IOM’s mandate and programme of activities; and,
  • Expertise in providing training in audio-visual production.

Languages

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the the three languages.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments
