The Project Associate will directly support Mediation Coordination in close collaboration with the Ministry of Justice for implementing activities and deliverables. She/he will work in close collaboration with the Project Management Unit (PMU), UNDP’s programme and operations team, other UN agencies, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring UNDP’s successful achievement of the outputs of the project.
Responsibilities
- Ability to systematically monitor results of strategies, programmes, and activities with a view to make sure that they are being implemented effectively; Ability to provide managers and key stakeholders with regular feedback and reporting on the consistency or discrepancy between planned activities and programme management and results.
- Ability to develop solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process
- Ability to animate individuals and communities of contributors to participate and share, particularly externally explanations.
- Ability to capture and sustain attention, interest and agreement of high-level, influential policy and decision makers and secure their buy-in of high-level vision and objectives
- Ability to identify and organize action around mitigating and proactively managing risks
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and control resources, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals.
- Ability to manage the implementation of strategies, programmes, and projects with a focus at improved performance and demonstrable results. Knowledge and understanding of relevant theories, concepts, methodologies, instruments, and tools.
Education:
University Degree in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences or Law required.
Work experience:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible programme management and/or implementation experience is required at the national or international level, with a minimum of two years implementing, coordinating or monitoring activities in the justice sector.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience supporting project /programme management for an internationally funded project is an asset.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with ministries, national or local institutions in the justice sector is an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in English (both written and oral). Knowledge of other official UN languages desirable.
